Since its inception the Cello Factory has been dedicated to promoting cello music within the local community. To this end the Cello Factory and the Hong Kong Cellist Society have joined forces to organize a promotional series of courses designed to introduce cello playing to people who have enthusiasm or curiosity about the cello but little or no background with it. The course consists of eight lessons during which our instructors will introduce the fundamentals of cello playing including proper posture at the instrument, holding the bow, tone production, etc. Students will also learn scales and simple melodies in order to give the course a musical dimension. All of the instructors are professional full-time musicians with a rich background of teaching experience. After finishing the promotional course students can continue their learning by enrolling in a regular Seasonal Course and sitting for the public examinations.

All ages are welcome to apply for these promotional courses. Students will be arranged in different classes depending on their ages and musical backgrounds with 4 to 10 students per class and one 60-minute lesson per week. The courses are offered at both the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the Cello Factory. The Cello Factory also offers an Instrument Rental Plan for students who do not own a cello. Through these courses we hope to open the door to allow many more people to share in the joy of playing this beautiful instrument.
